I haven’t asked for much in my life.

I figure I have health, happiness and family…

What else could I possibly want?

A depot.

I want an old depot.

I want an old train depot to fix up as a guest house or music picking parlor or just a gathering place.

But, God knows if he granted me this it would only bring unwanted expenses, marital issues, and toil.

He’s smart that way.

So, He lets me borrow this one.

The depot.

As with everything, it comes with strings attached. This is the lucky owner of the depot, a cowboy poet, singer/song writer,  musician, and our friend, Don.

cowboy poet

He has been stock piling recycled and reusable items for years to restore the depot into an art gallery and acoustic music place. He feels so badly that we don’t have a depot to work on, he lets Ben and I work on his. Bless his heart.

Yesterday was one of those days. The weatherman said there was an eighty percent chance of rain, a perfect day to work on my the depot. Reality was sunshine, lots of it. We should have been fishing.

Instead, we were insulating the walls these. I don’t know what they are supposed to be used for, but we used them to insulate the walls.

Insulation

After we insulated for a while, we would nail up tounge and groove boards…

during

Insulate and nail. Nail and insulate, until it looked like this.

one wall down

We worked on it all afternoon until it was time to check cows.

longhorns

After checking cows, we ate longhorn burgers, homemade french fries and banana cream pie.

Then it was time for music.
