“Who wants to say the prayer?” I asked while sitting down to supper…

Deputy Barney raised his hand like he was still in school and we all struck our favorite prayer pose. “THE FORCE”, as we call it, off of Star Wars. Complete with, pisssss-waaaaaong, light saber-type sound effects, and Master Yoda’s three finger FORCE that connects us to each other without holding hands, we bow our heads.

Now don’t be hate’n. This isn’t blaspheme, it’s just  kids connecting the similarities of the unseen Holy Spirit to something like the Force in Stars Wars movies. You know, one spirit and all.

“…and thank you for W, Mom and Dad, and everyone and watch over Dad while he works tonight, and bless our kitties, and the food in Jesus name. Amen. Phhhhrooom.”

Up to that point, it had been a long day. His prayer was one of those crumbs you get once in a while as a parent. A gift. A hint that you just might be doing something right. It made me happy. It made me feel rich. I was basking in the goodness of the moment when…

W asked, “What’s a wenis?”

Barney giggled. Looked sober, then giggled again.

I think Ben winked at me. I’m not sure, but I think.

“A wenis, isn’t anything.”

“Yes, it is, Mom, Evan’s mom is a doctor and she said it was on your arm.”

“His mom isn’t a doctor, she’s a nurse.”

“Hey, W, hey, what if you picked up a rock and dropped it on your wenis….[tee heee heee heee]or or or…what if Bastisa hit John Cena on the wenis…dong-fring..that would be funny.” Haaa haaa haaa

“Grrrr. That’s enough.”

“What if…”

“You’re gonna think wenis if you don’t stop messing around and eat.”

“Listen Mister, I’ll grab you by the wenis and you’ll be sorry.”

You know what they say… If you can’t control the chaos, lead it. Make ‘em think it was your idea.

Yeah. So much for the crumb.

Later, after the little angels were in bed, I was sitting at my computer to check  my email and W got up.

“About this wenis thing. You know it isn’t real, right? Your friend was just making up a word that sounds like another word…right?”

“It really is real Mom.”

What’s a mom to do? (Sigh)

So I did what I always do when I don’t know.

I Googled it. (Deep sigh.)

Yeah.

Guess what I found? (Even deeper sigh)

Videos on YouTube.

Turns out, God gave everyone a wenis.

Two, in fact.

When it comes to wenises there’s big ones, small ones, fat ones, skinny ones, white ones, black ones, old ones, young ones…

That’s all you get. If you want to know more…you’ll have to google it for yourself.

I’m sure the next prayer at supper will be…

“Dear Lord, please bless this meal we are about to receive (and my wenis too) and may we be truly thankful…”

…and Lord, if you’re listening….about that crumb…

Amen,

Sandhill Sis

I’m glad I learned something today! I had to google it to find out for myself what it stood for! Boys are soooo funny and I don’t think the nurse said anything about it! Hee Hee! My guess is they learned it at school. You know, the place they learn the good with the bad! :o )
