Dump Cake.

Oh my dear Rhoda’s, while in Georgia, our good friends Brantley and Vickie did hook us up. We had been on the road RVing it, Merlefesting it, and RVing it some more, it was an absolute blast, but, sometimes you just get to the point of wanting a real bed, a hot shower and some home cookin’.

God bless ’em when they said they would cook for us when we got in Sunday night. We had slow roasted herb chicken on the grill, homemade tater salad, tossed salad, pinto beans, and dump cake with ice cream. It was slap yer mama good.

I had never even heard of dump cake, but oh Rhoda, I have now. This cobbler-like cake is E Z. I’m fixing to tell you a cooking secret that will cause your man to stop dead in his tracks and reaffirm his vows. Here’s what you need.

 The goods.

1 Can Crushed Pineapple

1 Can Cherry Pie Filling

1 Box Yellow Cake Mix

2 Sticks of Butter

9×13 pan

350 degree oven

1 Hour or until brown and bubbly.

Here’s how you do it…

Dump the pineapple.

Dump the cherries.

Put in hot oven at 350 degrees.

Jerk it out when it looks like this.

Because I love you.

Dear Sis, thank you for giving our mom this yummy recipe – the 9 x 13 pan lasted a whole 1/2 hour out of the oven at our house and then GONE ,,, it was so good we might even do the dishes for her… well, not THAT good, but it was good!

I’m thinking that anything that has two sticks of butter in it has GOT to be good. Different fruit? Sure! Different cake mix? No problem. Slap that butter in there, and you’re golden.

Never had it, but I can smell the yum just from the picture.

Oh Robin, it’s bang your head on the ground good. Why couldn’t you do stawberries, chocolet cake mix and serve with whipped cream? Heck, ya! It’s one of those ver-sit-tile recipes.

Thanks for stopping, girlie. Checked out your blog…nice!
    Love,
    Sis
