White Vinegar.

Is there anything this magic wonder can’t do? It makes me almost want to marry it. I use it to clean windows, the bathroom, the coffee maker, in the laundry, and on the floors. Did you know it has germ killing ability? And it’s cheap, like me. What’s not to like?

In the coffee maker: Fill the water reservoir with it and turn it on clean and after half the vinegar has gone through, unplug it. Let it set for the day and plug it back in that evening. What that does is holds the vinegar in the water lines allowing you to get more of the hard water crud out. Another little tip from Grams, my mom. Cool huh? We have extremely hard water here in our wheat field, but we’ve also have had the same coffee pot for over ten years now. So this really works.

In the laundry: I put in 1/4 to 1/2 cup in the fabric softener holder thingy. This takes moldy smells out of towels and all the residual soap and detergent out of your laundry during the rinse cycle. I can’t do laundry without it or my clothes line.

In the kitchen: Instead of using jet dry I use white vinegar in that reservoir thingy too. (I only put two teaspoon total of dish washing detergent, too.) My dishes come out clean and lovely.

In the bathroom: I spray and wipe down everything with it. For stubborn soap scum, add some baking soda to make a paste and scrub the enamel parts and the faucets and rinse.

On the floors:  I mix half cup of vinegar to every gallon of water to clean the floors. This works really great for ‘dry mopping’ hardwood floors, that will buff to a shine.

Windows: Mix three tablespoons white vinegar, a quarter teaspoon dish soap and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle for windows that shine. (This will last me a year. That’s how much I love doing windows.)

These are old time tested ways to use this naturally green stuff. Isn’t it weird, what is old is new again. What goes around comes around. What do you use white vinegar for?

Simply,

Sis

If you buy the generic brand of vinegar, know that it is made from similar ingredients found in plastics and gasoline, and if you are using it to boil stones out of your tea pot, it will evaporate quickly, burn to black and make your entire house smell like a refinery, but only after it coats the bottom of your tea pot with a fine, black goo.

I like to mix vinegar with water in an old spray bottle (usually Windex or something like that). I use that to clean my counters and my sink (since it is a germ killer!)

Also it cleans windows well by itself, one has to wipe it off well, but windows and mirrors get crystal clean!

it’s also great for mosquito bites, just put some on a paper towel and dab it on the bite. Don’t touch it for a minute and the itching will stop. It’s always worked for me, so I hope it works for you too!

I love vinegar for neutralizing pet odors. Especially urine. Test small area of carpet, furniture or wood floor for discoloration.(DO NOT USE ON POLISHED MARBLE) Vinegar is an acid and will etch the shine from marble floors. After sopping up all you can, pour directly on mess spot let it soak in and cover with paper towel, do not blot, allow to dry. For a more pleasant odor use apple cider vinegar, but remember it has a color to it.

Love using vinegar and the smell goes right away. I have tried it with baking soda to undo clogs but that didn’t work for me.

It can also be used to clean the inside of your microwave. If you put a small amount in a bowl and let it heat up for about a minute and then let the steam penetrate all the gunk it’ll wipe off clean! :)

If your plants don’t seem to be doing too well, put a couple tablespoons of vinegar in a bucket of water to water them. It evens out the PH balance of the water.

All these uses for vinegar, I use most of them. As for smell in the house from it – gee, open a window!! My place NEVER smells of vinegar even if I pour it straight on a puppy pee spot – it also cleans out the inside of the refrig if your into doing that, just use warm water and some vinegar….

it truly is the best natural cleaner there is. Large chemical companies that make expensive cream cleansers and cleaners have spent a lot of money to make us forget about this natural wonder.

Just thought I would throw this out there. Its Fantastic for sunburns. Put some in a clean spray bottle and mist it onto the sunburn. Vinegar is what got me through my last lobster transformation. :P

Vinegar is a great cleaner! The undiluted stuff will kill most germs, bacteria, molds, and mildew. Don’t use it on marble, like someone else mentioned. Also, it can damage caulking around your sink or bathtub if you over-use it.

A cup in the washing machine will soften clothes, remove odors, and keep your colors bright.

You can fill a small spray bottle with straight vinegar and add 10-20 drops of essential oil (lavender is my favorite) to make a wonderful DIY air freshener. :)
