Summer is in full swing. After we get done wallering around in the ball games, swimming lessons, vacation, and wheat harvest, it will be gone before we know it. In the mean time, “I’m boooored” won’t be ringing in my ears. Sphnicker Sphnicker Sphnicker.

I feel liberated after teaching Deputy Barney and W to clean. Rich even.

There are a few jobs that come with just being part of this family. Making beds, picking up clothes and putting away clean ones fall into that category.

Other cleaning chores, weeding the garden, feeding/watering pets, hauling wood (in the winter) are chores they get paid for. You can read more about that here.  

I love this idea. It makes me feel less like Cinderella and more like a mom or an assistant coach, that gets to take time for herself. Time of herself, that is, after the learning, coaching, and supervising curve is past. That may be a while, but at least the journey has started.

When we pulled in to the ball park last night W said, “Awww, geeze, Mom, I hope my throwing arm is still okay after all that vacuuming….”

*I hope I didn’t chip the polish on my toes after my pedicure, while you kids cleaned the house. Sigh. Some days it’s hard being a lady of luxury.*

“As long as your wenis isn’t swollen, you’ll be fine, Sweetheart.”

“Can I have a piece of candy?”

“Sure, drop and give me 20 push-ups.”

“Never mind.”
